Events of 2008

Events of 2008

Independence Day:
15th Aug 2008 ESS celebrated Independence Day at Nara Village with 250 children of Nara School sweets biscuits and flags were given to children.

Dental Checkup:
22nd Aug 2008 dental checkup camp was organized by ESS with the help of Lions Club of Nagpur Circle for 300 children at Gardiner school a school for underprivileged children.

Pediatric Checkup:
6th Sept 2008 Pediatric checkup camp was organized by ESS with the help of Lions Club of Nagpur Circle for 300 children at Gardiner school a school for underprivileged children.

AIDS Awareness Camp:
13th Sept 2008 AIDS awareness camp was organized with the jhoparpatti football association and about 200 people were benefited by it.

Dental Checkup Camp:
17th Sept 2008 a dental checkup camp was organized by ESS with Police Mitra Parivar at an underprivileged school where 350 students got the benefit this school is deprived of lights since 1973 ESS brought to notice this problem to the concern authorities and things were done in a week.

Blood Checkup Camp:
20th Oct 2008 a blood checkup camp was organized for 180 inmates of Mecosabagh Girls hostel. The hostel has been running since 1924 for underprivileged children but does not have any grants from the Government as on date.

Felicitation Ceremony:
21st Oct 2008 Students of the police personal were felicitated for their efforts by ESS and Police Mitra parivar 80 students had secured 80 % and above in their 10th class exams. The main motive behind doing this programme was that the child of a police man comes from a family which is always in stress and strain as the main earning member of the family has duties to perform under extreme pressure.


Social Farming project:
22nd Oct 2008 A Social Farming project was done at Mecosabagh Girls Hostel so as to make the hostel Self Sufficient in their basic needs of Food Clothing and shelter. This was done with a Child Star the Wizkid from Horlicks, Komal Parakh all the children enjoyed the feeling of being with the Wizkid amongst them.

Breakfast:
28 the Oct 2008 while doing the Social farming and the blood check up camps the children showed their desire to have Maggie so a breakfast was arranged for the Kids of Mecosabagh Girls Hostel and all the children enjoyed having it.

Children’s day:
14th Nov 2008 Children’s day was celebrated with the children of Mecosabagh Girls hostel as the children did not have Paneer ever so we decided on a Paneer menu.

Visit to plan Mowad Mahotsav:
20th Nov 2008 Members of ESS paid a visit to plan Mowad Mahotsav to Mowad Village which was completely devastated by the Floods in 1991 7 programmes were decided for the mahotsav. Namely Dental check up, eye check up, AIDS awareness, Blood Donation, pedreatic checkup, Eye donation and Disaster Management Camp.

Health Checkup:
24th Nov 2008 to 2nd Dec 2008 Dental check up, eye check up, AIDS awareness, Blood Donation, pedreatic checkup, Eye donation and Disaster Management Camps were held at Mowad.

Visit to Gadchiroli:
5th Dec 2008 the members of ESS went to pay a visit to Gadchiroli a naxal affected district of Eastern Maharastra. Programmes were decided for the people of the nagri Village namely Eye checkup camp women empowerment self sustainability non conventional power generation mechanized farming and organic farming.

Eye Checkup Camp Women Empowerment:
10th Dec to 20th Dec 2008 Eye checkup camp women empowerment self sustainability non conventional power generation mechanized farming and organic farming. Were done in the village where there were interaction with the people of the village with seminars and workshops.
Christmas Eve Celebrations:
25th Dec 2008 Christmas was celebrated with the children of mecosabagh girls hostel teaching them dance for the programme.

Dance Competition and Rangoli Contest:
25th Dec to 31st Dec 2008 Dance competition and Rangoli contest were organized for the sexual minorities as a part of the year end programmes.

About Eastern Studies Society

Eastern Studies Society (ESS) derives its inspiration from the philosophy of Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi. It is a non-profit secular organization and includes members from different social groups of India irrespective of caste creed colour sex etc. ever since its foundation ESS has been working with children and aged people –the two most vulnerable section of society in this age of globalization. This has been possible mainly due to the physical, emotional moral and financial support of its individual members.ESS,, as of present has not applied for funds to any funding agencies and has organized programmes solely through individual contributions from friends relatives and well-wishers.
